This is a costume I made many years ago. I was in a costume design/pattern making class at Evergreen State College in Olympia. I have to say it was probably the most challenging class I have ever taken. From doing the research on the Mad Hatter, to finding a coat with tails I could make a pattern from. There wasn’t a coattail pattern out there out there I could buy. I did what my niece Sara does and used the illustrations and pattern drafting techniques to create everything, even the hat. photo by Randi Medaugh
